The International English Language Testing System, commonly known as IELTS, is a globally recognized English language proficiency test. It is designed to assess the language ability of non-native speakers who intend to study, work, or migrate to countries where English is the primary language of communication.
Administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge English Language Assessment, the IELTS test is trusted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities worldwide.
IELTS serves multiple purposes:
Academic Admissions: Many universities and colleges in English-speaking countries require IELTS scores as part of their admissions process to ensure that students can comprehend and communicate effectively in English.
Immigration: Several English-speaking countries, including Canada, Australia, and the UK, use IELTS scores as part of their immigration application processes to ensure that migrants have the necessary language skills to integrate into society.
Professional Recognition: Many professional organizations and accrediting bodies recognize IELTS as a measure of English proficiency for licensing and certification purposes.
Skills Assessment: Employers often use IELTS scores to assess the English language proficiency of potential employees.
