Our fluency class is a mix of students from different professional backgrounds. The most common expression everyone has on their face is pure nervousness, despite being able to make simple sentences. The room for the first day is literally closed right after the self-introduction part, in which the students open up about their background and their true feelings about this language. There we never feel infructuous as we travel from Maths classrooms to vast oceans on ships to sound engineering studios.
The class begins
Once the class begins, the tutor unveils the concepts in an ascending order. Their indefatigable efforts bring movements to the lips of the students, sparkle in their eyes and finally wipe the inhibition to think and speak in English. One hour goes like a minute there. The students get engaged in various activities, not knowing they are learning something new or rooting something they got in the class deep into their brains. Every student teaches something new to the trainer as well, which makes them better every day.
The effort of the student
Abhimanyu is one such student who has mastered sound engineering and was the great producer of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s music concert at Lulu mall, Kottayam. He came to the class with very little knowledge of English. I must say his doughty spirit kept him going. He
believed his block to speak would be insurmountable. However, with our live interaction in English everyday made him go home with complacency.
