The International English Language Testing System, commonly known as IELTS, is a globally recognized English language proficiency test. It is designed to assess the language ability of non-native speakers who intend to study, work, or migrate to countries where English is the primary language of communication.
Administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge English Language Assessment, the IELTS test is trusted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities worldwide.
IELTS serves multiple purposes:

Immigration: Several English-speaking countries, including Canada, Australia, and the UK, use IELTS scores as part of their immigration application processes to ensure that migrants have the necessary language skills to integrate into society.

Understanding the duration and number of items for each sub-test is essential for candidates to prepare effectively for the OET. By knowing what to expect, candidates can manage their time effectively during the test and approach each sub-test with the right mindset and strategies.
The Listening module encompasses four sections, and each section comprises ten questions.The recordings are played only once, and candidates must answer as they listen.
The Reading module comprises three sections, with increasing difficulty. 40 questions test a wide range of reading skills.
The Writing module includes two tasks. It is estimated that completing Task 1 will take approximately 20 minutes, while Task 2 will require approximately 40 minutes.
In the Speaking module, candidates have a face-to-face interview to assess their spoken English skills and ability to express ideas clearly.
